Senator Bill Posey Declares Victory in Congressional Race

Melbourne, FL – Republican State Senator Bill Posey has declared victory in his race to represent Florida’s 15th Congressional District.  As of 9:45 pm, Posey has a 43,173 vote lead over Democratic opponent Stephen Blythe.  Posey will replace Congressman Dave Weldon, who left this seat open when he announced his retirement in January.

Bill Posey released the following statement after declaring his General Election victory:

“I am truly humbled by the results of this election.  I would like to start by thanking my family, my campaign staff, our tireless volunteers, and, most importantly, the voters of this district.  I look forward to serving with all the members of Congress – both new and old, Republican and Democrat.  I vow to stand on the same principles that have always guided me to best represent the people of District 15 and all Americans.”

“I decided to run for Congress because I wanted to bring greater accountability to the federal government, just as I did to the State of Florida.  Now, nine months after making that decision, accountability is one thing that both sides of the Congressional aisle and our next President all agree that we must have.  My ability to work with both sides of the aisle I feel will prove invaluable as we work to make the federal government more accountable.”

“Once again, I have been truly humbled by this whole experience.  My sincerest thank you goes out to all those who voted for me, as well as my family, staff, and all the wonderful volunteers that made this campaign a success.  Thank you and God Bless.”
