Trail Talk
Inauguration Tickets
Hello Friends -
I wanted to post a quick update after a story in the TC Palm earlier this week about tickets to the Inauguration of our 44th President.
We have had tremendous response from individuals across District 15 over the last few weeks and certainly since this most recent story. Requests have now far surpassed the number of tickets that our office has to distribute (which was fewer than 200).
The response has been unbelievable. Regardless of their individual political beliefs, many constituents are excited at the opportunity to even be near this Historic event. Many are hoping to take their children.
Adding even more excitement to the day, the Inaugural Committee has chosen the theme “A New Birth of Freedom” to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. I have no doubt the inaugural ceremony will be one of the most memorable in our nation’s history.
For those requests we are unable to accommodate and for the many individuals still hoping to head to DC for the festivities, please stay tuned to the official website: http://inaugural.senate.gov. I have heard they are expecting a crowd so large that the non-ticketed guests will undoubtedly fill the National Mall and line the streets for the parade.
I wish we could accommodate more constituents with their requests for tickets, but I am positive that everyone who visits DC will have a memorable trip no matter what!
God bless,
Bill

Featured Candidate: Bill Posey
by Team Huck PAC
Huck PAC is proud to endorse Bill Posey for Congress for the 15th District of Florida.
Bill is passionate about bringing greater accountability to government. It has been his priority since he first ran for Rockledge City Council in 1976 and he has carried that through as both a State representative and State Senator.
He is known nationwide for his innovation in bringing greater accountability to
government.
The first three things Bill Posey wants to do if elected:
1) Pass legislation to make the federal government financially accountable to the citizens, including legislation to stop the practice of secret earmarks.
2) Pass an energy policy that makes us far less dependent on foreign sources of energy and diversifies our alternate and renewable sources for the future.
3) This is a tie - reduce the tax burden for all Americans and build the fence to secure our borders.
Response to the Orlando Sentinel
This is the letter I wrote in response to the Orlando Sentinel endorsing my opponent:
Bill Posey responds
October 14, 2008
The Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board’s endorsement of my opponent, Steve Blythe, in the 15th Congressional District said that I lacked curiosity and the openness needed to navigate and solve issues at the federal level.
The Sentinel failed to even reference, however, my success at making government more accountable. I was named a national legislator of the year by the American Legislative Exchange Council, the nation’s oldest and largest, bipartisan, nonprofit association of lawmakers, for passing an accountability bill that the council termed “the best piece of legislation to come out of any state legislature in over 10 years.”
I’ve served honorably and worked hard to earn the respect of my colleagues and constituents. In more than 15 years, I’ve missed only three days of work; run my offices under budget every month, returning taxpayers hard earned dollars to the state coffers; and even voted to cut my own pay—twice.
The Sentinel stated my opponent favors the Second Amendment, but did not mention the numerous restrictions on that right which he supports; neither did the Sentinel mention that the NRA has endorsed my campaign.
Washington is a mess. My track record of tackling difficult issues and solving them will help provide relief for all working taxpayers.
BILL POSEY
State Senator
Candidate for Congress District 15
Congress Must Take Action on Energy
Fresh from their five week vacation, Congress is set to finally continue the Energy debate and hopefully take action. Their stalling on this critical issue shows a complete disregard for the needs of the American people. With exorbitant gas prices and a sluggish economy, Congress can ill afford to sit back and do nothing. Times like these demand action and it is high time for Congress to wake up, step up, and lead on this critical issue.
Americans want a comprehensive energy plan that lowers gas prices now and creates a sustainable future to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. The American Energy Act (H.R. 6566) is an “all of the above” plan to lower gas prices by increasing production of American energy; using new drilling revenues to fund an innovative renewable energy trust fund; encouraging more efficiency and conservation through incentives and tax breaks; and promoting the use of more alternative fuels such as solar, wind, and hydrogen.
So what are they actually planning to do? Speaker Pelosi has stated that the bill they are proposing will: PERMANENTLY ban 78% of our offshore areas from drilling (hidden behind allowing limited drilling in the Southeast, but even then only with State approval); RAISE taxes on domestic production of gasoline, heating oil, and natural gas; BLOCK more nuclear power production; PERMANENTLY prevent federal agencies from using unconventional and alternative sources of fuel; create a new, heavy handed electricity mandate that will RAISE electricity costs; and PERMANENTLY lock up 1 trillion barrels of oil from oil shale. Does that sound like the sensible, comprehensive energy plan that Americans are clamoring for?
Right here in our own Congressional District, there are alternative energy companies pursuing exciting technology – growing algae to be used as bio-diesel, pursuing more energy efficient light bulbs, and developing eco-sustainable housing to name a few - that would all benefit under the American Energy Act. It would make it easier and more profitable for them to do business and would provide an additional boost to the local economy. Not to mention the environmental benefits of these technologies.
We must let Congress know that we are watching and that we are angered by their inaction. I urge you to let the leadership in Washington know where you stand on energy by writing letters to the editor or to them directly to voice your positions on energy and your displeasure with Congress’ do nothing attitude. The approval ratings of Congress are at all-time lows right now and the Majority’s stance on energy is a big reason for that. Let them know you support a comprehensive, “all of the above” energy plan that provides a sustainable future and eliminates our dependency on foreign oil.
Excitement at McCain HQ Convention Party
The excitement level among Republicans hasn’t been this high in years! John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin to be his running mate has truly energized the party. That much was clearly evident last Thursday at a Republican National Convention Watching Party held at McCain’s Brevard Headquarters.
A great crowd showed up to watch McCain close the Convention. Everyone in the room was buzzing about Sarah Palin and her speech from the night before. Myself and State Representative Thad Altman had the privilege to address those in attendance before McCain delivered his speech. We both commented on how we haven’t seen the GOP this pumped up in many, many years – not since the days of Reagan! After we watched McCain’s speech and heard his plan to bring REAL change to Washington, everyone was even more excited.
The Republican Party is sending true reformers to Washington. Something that is sorely needed and the whole reason I am running for Congress. With your support, I hope to be able to join them in D.C. to help them reform Washington and make the Federal Government more accountable.
