Florida Republicans join celebration as House votes for repeal of health care law

WASHINGTON – Applause broke out on the House floor and in the visitor galleries on Wednesday when Republicans fulfilled a campaign promise by passing a bill to repeal the sweeping health care reforms signed into law by President Barack Obama last year.

Florida Republicans joined the celebration when the House voted 245 to 189 for repeal. Florida Democrats accused Republicans of engaging in a political stunt, knowing that repeal has virtually no chance of passing the Senate.

Like the rest of the House, members from Florida divided along party lines.
For repeal

Bill Posey, R-Rockledge: “The cost of this law continues to climb. During the House floor debate on this bill last year I stated that the overall costs of the legislation were being underestimated by more than $500 billion. That is proving to be the case as the hidden costs of the bill continue to be uncovered.”
