Senator Posey Visits Osceola Veterans Museum
This past Saturday (8/09/09), I had the pleasure of visiting the Veterans Tribute and Museum of Osceola County and speaking before their Board. I’d like to thank Chairman Don Smith and Col. Frank Clark for arranging my appearance and allowing me the opportunity to speak.
What a great museum this is and what a great group of volunteers they have to run it! Located inside the Osceola Square Mall, this museum has a large collection of memorabilia from all branches of the military as well as all wars - from the Spanish American War all the way through Operation Enduring Freedom. They also show videos of veterans telling their stories. To top it off, the museum is FREE.
The museum is run by an outstanding group of veterans, spouses, and friends of veterans from all branches and all walks of life who volunteer their time and energy. They began with nothing more than a love of their country, brothers and sisters and their hard work and determination resulted in the very impressive Veterans Museum. Their motto is “Uniting of Veterans and Community Thru Education”. I had the pleasure of meeting many of them on Saturday and they are truly a wonderful group. I enjoyed spending time with them immensely.
I would like to encourage EVERYONE to visit the Veterans Tribute and Museum of Osceola County. You don’t have to be a veteran or a military buff to enjoy it and there is history there that everybody should hear about.
